We have also been describing our favourite teddies and writing instructions on how to look after them after reading the book 'That Rabbit Belongs To Emily Browne. The staff in year 2 have loved seeing all the fabulous pictures of the children with their teddies (pictures coming soon)!
This week in Year 2, the children have been revisiting the story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears. We have started to learn how to use exclamation marks in our writing and have written a letter of apology from Goldilocks to The Three Bears.
In science, we have been learning about materials and their properties, linking it back to our favourite teddies to explain what they are made out of and what properties they have, e.g. fabric, soft, furry etc.
Since returning from half term, year 2 have enjoyed watching Mr Peplow and Mrs Huddlestone run a race against each other (Mrs Huddlestone was the winner after much showing off by Mr Peplow) which linked to our current topic and text - The Hare and The Tortoise The Rematch. We have been writing questions to ask the Hare about the race. They will be using their learning within this topic to write a diary entry as the tortoise.
We have been doing lots of art using the natural environment. We have created firework artwork linked to a piece of music and have decorated pebbles in honour of remembrance day next week. I will upload pictures of these once completed.
This week we have been getting arty and into the Christmas spirit by decorating the hall with our year group Christmas display. We used our handprints to make the face of father Christmas (as pictured below). We have also finished our clay leaf artwork. They all look fantastic!
This week has been wellbeing week across the federation and Year 2 have been using the books 'While we can't hug' to write letters to our friends which we delivered to each of the children in the year group! It was so lovely to see them all! We also used 'The Dot' to create some awesome art work. It has been a fantastic week!
